Photograph inscribed and signed: "A Julio Guidi/Zino Francescatti/1938". B/w, 3¼x5, matted to a 5x6½ piece of brown card stock (2 surfaces). Zino Francescatti (1902-1991) was a legendary violinist. At ten years of age he played the Beethoven violin concerto with an orchestra. He went to Paris in 1927 to teach violin at the Ecole Normale de Musique. The first world tour concerts of the French-born virtuoso were in 1931 and 1939. His American debut was in 1939 with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. Francescatti played the famous "Hart Stradivarius" of 1727. Upon his retirement, he sold the instrument to fund his Zino Francescatti Foundation, dedicated to training young violinists. Fine condition.
