ZORRO TV SERIES
An original 42x38 blueprint sketch for Set No. 2 of the television series Zorro, showing detail design for building 7 ("Ext. LA Plaza"), including door and window placement and design, dated July 5, 1957
Ephemera unsigned, 42x38 open flat, 9x11½ closed. An architect's rendering for Production 5850, Set No. 2. Sheet 26 of 26. Showing the planning for building 7 ("Ext. LA Plaza"), including door and doorway design, window design and placement, and archway plans. Dated July 5, 1957. Drawn by "De Shields". Approved by and signed: "C. Clark" on identifying panel. Premiering in 1957, Zorro brought the story of the Spanish hero swordsman of California to television, produced by Walt Disney Productions with Guy Williams as the titular hero, Zorro (Don Diego de la Vega). The 78 episodes of Zorro were televised from 1957-1959 on ABC and were extremely popular with younger audiences. It also produced a hit recording for the female vocal group, The Chordettes. However, despite the popularity, the show was canceled after two seasons due to financial issues, and was only kept alive by hour long specials. Premiering in October of 1957, this blueprint was drawn up for an early episode. Multiple folds. Soiled with pencil markings and smears. Pin holes in corners. Creased throughout. Toned. Corners worn and creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
