A 20x17½ sketch for the television series Zorro, showing the layout of the Tavern, and making special note of the building's entrance to the plaza and the overhead balcony
Ephemera unsigned, 20x17½ open flat, 8¾x11¼ closed. Stage #3. A pencil sketch on trace paper of the Tavern interior, showing the room layout and prop placement. Notes the entrance to the Plaza, and the location of the balcony on the second floor. Premiering in 1957, Zorro brought the story of the Spanish hero swordsman of California to television, produced by Walt Disney Productions with Guy Williams as the titular hero, Zorro (Don Diego de la Vega). The 78 episodes of Zorro were televised from 1957-1961 on ABC and were extremely popular with younger audiences. It also produced a hit recording for the female vocal group, The Chordettes. However, despite the popularity, the show was canceled after two seasons due to financial issues, and was only kept alive by hour long specials. Multiple folds. Soiled with pencil markings and smears. Pin holes in corners. Creased throughout. Toned. Corners worn and creased. Some tears present where folds meet. Small tear in top margin. Otherwise, fine condition.
