The actor contracts the William Morris Agency to be his sole and exclusive Agent in the broadcasting industry.
Carbon Typed Contract signed: "Adolphe J. Menjou" in ink as Artist on page 4, 4p, 8½x11, front and verso. Beverly Hills, California, 1952 July 22. Headed: "American Federation of Radio Artists/Standard AFTRA Exclusive Agency Contract/Under Rule 12-A". Menjou contracts with the William Morris Agency, Inc. to be his "sole and exclusive Agent in the broadcasting industry" for a period of three years, beginning on December 10, 1952, at a commission of ten percent. Also signed by an Agent for the William Morris Agency, Inc. In 1952, the year this contract was signed, Menjou appeared in one feature film, The Sniper. Between 1953-1955, he appeared in two feature films, Man on a Tightrope (1953) and Timberjack (1955), and Menjou was seen on television on My Favorite Story (Host, 1953-1954), Your Favorite Story (1954, several episodes) and an episode of Science Fiction Theater (1955). Stage, screen and television actor Adolphe Menjou (1890-1963) was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor for The Front Page (1930-1931 Academy). Known for his waxed black mustache and stylish wardrobe, he usually appeared as a dapper man-of-the world in more than 100 films, including A Woman of Paris (1923), Morocco (1930), Little Miss Marker (1934), Stage Door (1937), A Star is Born (1937) and Paths of Glory (1957). His other films include A Farewell to Arms (1932) and Pollyanna (1960), and Menjou also hosted several TV series, including My Favorite Story (1953-1954) and Target. His 1948 autobiography was appropriately titled, It Took Nine Tailors. Lightly creased. Staple holes at upper left corners, two file holes at upper blank margins. Minor carbon black marks at upper margin of first page. Overall, fine condition.
