"Vivienne Clements". ALAN J. PAKULA (1928-1998, born in the Bronx,
New York) was an American film producer, writer and screenwriter. He produced
Fear Strikes Out (1957), To Kill a Mockingbird (1962), Love
With the Proper Stranger (1963), and Up the Down Staircase
(1967), among others,. He also produced and direct The Sterile
Cuckoo (1969) and Klute (1971), All the President's Men
(1976), and Comes a Horseman (1978). Pakula earned Oscar
nominations for three movies: To Kill a Mockingbird (Best Picture),
All the President's Men (1976, Best Director) and Sophie's Choice
(1982; Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium). He
also directed 8 different actors in Oscar-nominated roles, three of whom
(Jane Fonda, Jason Robards and Meryl Streep) went on to win. DAVID
BROWN (1916-2010) produced the blockbuster Jaws in 1975
and its sequel Jaws 2 in 1978. His other film credits include The
Sugarland Express (1974), The Island (1980), Cocoon
(1985), Driving Miss Daisy (1989, Executive Producer), A Few Good
Men (1992), Deep Impact (1998), Angela's Ashes
(1999), Chocolat (2000) and Along Came a Spider (2001). Brown
was honored with the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award in 1990.
Vaudevillian turned film actor, writer and director CARTER DeHAVEN
(1886-1977) did most of his work in the silent era, but he made cameo
appearances into the TV era, his last being a spot on Bewitched (1965).
In Character Studies (1927), he did uncanny imitations of many
Hollywood stars, including Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd, Fatty Arbuckle, Douglas
Fairbanks, and a young Jackie Coogan. He was the father of actress Gloria
De Haven. ALFRED C. ULMER, JR. (1916-2000) was an Intelligence
Officer for the Navy during World War II, joining the Office of Strategic
Services in 1945 until the OSS was disbanded shortly after. He was then
recruited by the newly formed CIA, becoming head of the Strategic
Services Unit (SSU) in Austria. However, this position was soon liquidated
as well, and Ulmer subsequently traveled to several different offices in
Indonesia, Athens, and Paris. Ulmer received an Intelligence Medal of
Merit in 1962 upon his retirement. SERENA SINCLAIR was a fashion
correspondent for The Daily Telegraph in the 1970's. Toned on
outer margins. Left edge frayed and notched. Soiled with fingerprints and stains
around outer edges. Slightly creased. Some signatures slightly smeared, but
clearly legible. Otherwise, fine condition.
