The NASA research pilot signs an air mail envelope postmarked 1962
Envelope signed: "Albert H Crews Jr/Captain USAF", 6½x3½.  U.S. airmail envelope with red and blue border, addressed to Mrs. Barbara Lindberg, signed by Crews below the return address area. Postmarked Edwards, California, November 22, 1962, 7-cent U.S. Air Mail stamp affixed. Albert Hanlin Crews Jr., born on March 23, 1929, in El Dorado, Arkansas, is a retired United States Air Force colonel, engineer, and former military astronaut selectee. He earned a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 1950 and a Master of Science in aeronautical engineering from the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology in 1959. Crews was selected in 1965 as an astronaut for the U.S. Air Force's Manned Orbiting Laboratory (MOL) program, which was later canceled before any crewed missions took place. He retired from NASA and the Air Force with the rank of colonel. Among his honors, Crews received the Air Force Meritorious Service Medal and the NASA Exceptional Service Medal for his contributions to aerospace research. Fine condition.
