In full: "It was very good to hear from you. it looks like your first letter did get lost. It will please me to conduct the Saint Cecilia Orchestra. Please send me information about the time period of concerts and rehearsals, fee, and any other details. All goes well here. The concerts with the New York Philharmonic are an enormous success, as virtually all my engagements with other orchestras are. It would be great to see you here. Are you coming to the United States? With warmest and friendliest greetings,". Fold creases not near signature. Fine condition. Included typed addressed mailing envelope 7½x3¾ Lightly worn at edges. Fine condition. Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, Andre Kostelanetz (1901-1980) came to the U.S. in 1922. Debuting as a radio orchestra conductor (1924), he brought light versions of classical music, along with show and pop tunes, to a large audience. Over 50 million of his records were sold. Two items.
