Program signed signed: "Anton Walbrook", 8 pages, 5x7½. Complete program for a production of the Irving Berlin musical Call Me Madam at the Coliseum Theatre (London), 1952. Signed on front cover. Austrian-born Anton Walbrook (1896-1967), the son of a circus clown, learned stage and film craft under director Max Reinhardt. Gay and half-Jewish, he left Austria in 1936, changing his first name from Adolf and settling in England, where he immediately found roles as a continental European. He played Prince Albert in Victoria the Great (1937) and its 1938 sequel, Sixty Glorious Years. Other major films included Gaslight (1940, in the role Charles Boyer would fill in the Hollywood version), The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp (1943), The Red Shoes (1948), Lola Montès (1955) and Saint Joan (1957). Walbrook appeared in a few stage plays, including a 1948 West End production of Ibsen's The Wild Duck. Hole punch at top left corner. Lightly creased. Lightly worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
