SONIA SOTOMAYOR
Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States signs this portion of the title page from the Spanish language version of her children's book, El mundo adorado de Sonia Sotomayor (The Beloved World of Sonia Sotomayor)
Book page from publisher Vintage Espanol signed: "Sonia Sotomayor". 3½x2½ with PSA/DNA encapsulation.  PSA/DNA certification (85069783). Sonia Maria Sotomayor was born on June 25, 1954, in the Bronx, New York City, to Puerto Rican parents. After graduating summa cum laude from Princeton University in 1976, she earned her J.D. from Yale Law School in 1979, where she served as an editor of the Yale Law Journal. Sotomayor began her legal career as an assistant district attorney in Manhattan under Robert Morgenthau from 1979 to 1984, later joining the private law firm Pavia & Harcourt, where she specialized in intellectual property cases. In 1991, she was nominated by President George H. W. Bush to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. She served there until 1998, when President Bill Clinton appointed her to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. In 2009, President Barack Obama nominated Sotomayor to the Supreme Court of the United States. Following Senate confirmation on August 6, 2009, she became the first Hispanic and third woman to serve as an Associate Justice. On the Court, she has contributed to major rulings on issues such as healthcare, voting rights, affirmative action, and criminal justice. She is also known for her frequent dissents and emphasis on the real-world impact of judicial decisions. In addition to her judicial work, Sotomayor authored the memoir My Beloved World (2013) and several books for younger audiences. Fine condition.
