BERNARD CRIBBINS
Photo inscribed below his image, and again on a note penned on verso (3½5)
Autograph Note on Photograph signed twice: "To David with/best wishes/Bernard Cribbins". B/w, 3½x5, and on verso: "Hope you are feeling better!/All the best/Bernard Cribbins". A West End performer from the late 1950s, English actor Bernard Cribbins (1928-2022) co-starred in Not Now Darling, There Goes the Bride and Run For Your Life, and in the revue And Another Thing. More recent film work includes many revivals, including the part of Nathan Detroit in Guys and Dolls, Moonface Martin in Anything Goes and Alfred Doolittle in My Fair Lady. On TV, Cribbins is best known for his long association with Doctor Who, extending from the 1966 feature film to the most recent series, The Tenth Doctor. Also well-known are his children's programs. He was 114 times the storyteller on Jackanory from 1966 to 1991. He narrated the animated series The Wombles (1973-1975), and BBC-Radio's The Wind in the Willows. Cribbins has also released UK-charting humorous recordings. His feature films include Peter Sellers' The Wrong Arm of the Law (1963) and Alfred Hitchcock's Frenzy (1972). He has been commercial spokesman for model trains, the post office, and road safety. He received a special British Academy Children's Award in 2009, and was honored with an OBE in 2011. Slight ink smeared on front signature, but legible. Light surface creases and scratches (not seen head on). Otherwise, fine condition.
