as socialite turned farm wife Lisa Douglas on the popular TV series, Green
Acres (1965-1971). Gabor, who also appeared in the role on
Petticoat Junction (1965-1969), had made her film debut in 1941. Her
film credits include The Last Time I Saw Paris (1954), My Man
Godfrey (1957), Gigi (1958) and Youngblood Hawke (1964), and
Gabor also provided voices for the animated films The Aristocats
(1970), The Rescuers (1977) and The Rescuers Down Under (1990, her
last film). The first of the Gabor sisters to come to the U.S. from
Hungary, Eva was divorced and married five times; sister Magda was married
six times and sister Zsa Zsa was married nine times. Eva is credited with
saying, "Marriage is too interesting an experiment to be tried only once."
PAULA LAURENCE (1916-2005) appeared in Broadway plays for over 30
years, having just appeared in The Time of Your Life when she joined
the tour for Blithe Spirit. She played Roxanne's duenna in Jose Ferrer's
first appearance as Cyrano de Bergerac (1946). Laurence performed on
stages, nightclubs and in recording studios for 70 years. She played a diva
on Crossing Delancey (1988), singing "Some Enchanted Evening". Seen
in several TV plays of the 1950s, she last appeared in that medium in two
episodes of Law & Order (1993-1994). She played "Hannah Stokes" in
the cult TV gothic soap Dark Shadows (1970). ALAN MANSON
(1918-2002) acquired a taste for show business when, as a World War II
soldier, he appeared in the stage and movie versions of This is the Army
(1942), performing at the White House for the Roosevelt's. His was on his way to
an illustrious Broadway career until an unjust accusation of communism
sympathies stalled his career in 1955. He returned to Broadway in The Tenth
Man (1959), and found a niche as a reliable TV character actor, often cast
as a judge, doctor, or other authority figure. He appeared in 6 episodes of
Kojak as detective Steve Nicola. ANNA MINOT (WARREN), 1918-2002)
appeared on and off Broadway in classic plays like O'Neill's The Iceman
Cometh, and was a member of the Pearl Theatre Company for 20 years.
Seen frequently in the live TV plays of the early 1950s, she was in the cast
of As the World Turns from 1966 to 1970. She was married to actor
Joseph Warren from 1950 until his death in 1993. Creased, lightly toned.
