politicians including: RAYMOND BURR (1917-1993) starred as Los Angeles
lawyer Perry Mason from 1957-1966 and then as San Francisco Chief of
Detectives Robert T. Ironside from 1967-1975. He revived his lawyer
role in a two-hour TV movie Perry Mason Returns in 1985. It was the
second highest rated TV movie that season and led to three or four such
films during each successive season (one was 1987's Paris Paradox)
until Burr's death in 1993 at the age of 76. FRANKIE LANE
(1913-2007), born Frank LoVecchio, was diverse, singing pop, jazz
standards, country/western and devotional. His U.S. popularity was at its
peak in the 1950s, when he recorded such hits as "Mule Train", "Hey, Good
Lookin'", "I Believe" and the theme for the classic Western, High
Noon. Laine remained popular in Europe much longer, touring there with
much success. HOWARD DUFF (1913-1990), an army radio broadcaster during
World War II, played detective Sam Spade on a radio series from 1946 to
1950. His movie career started well in a series of powerful films of the late
1940s: Brute Force, Naked City and All My Sons. He was
adept at playing tough guys with a vulnerable spot. Duff met actress IDA
LUPINO on the set of Woman in Hiding (1950), and they married the
following year. The couple had their own TV comedy series, Mr. Adams and
Eve (1957-1958), which included an hour-long linked episode with I Love
Lucy(the couples on vacation together). Duff starred in his own short-lived
series Dante (1960), and co-starred in Felony Squad(1966). He was
a frequent TV guest star, including appearances on Bonanza and
Twilight Zone. He had recurring roles on the prime time soaps Flamingo
Road and Knot's Landing in the 1980s. He was Dustin Hoffman's
attorney in Kramer vs Kramer(1979). Democrat GAYLORD A. NELSON
(1916-2005) was Governor of Wisconsin from 1959-1962 and represented
Wisconsin in the U.S. Senate from 1963-1981. He initiated Earth Day in
1970. In 1995, President Clinton awarded Nelson the Presidential Medal of
Freedom. PLUS MANY MORE FAMOUS AUTOGRAPHS! Worn, nicked edges from
