Broadcast journalist and author Charles Kuralt (1934-1997) began his nearly four decades with CBS News as a radio writer for Douglas Edwards. Moving to CBS News' television division as an assignment editor in 1948, Kuralt first aired his popular "On the Road" segments on the CBS News with Walter Cronkite in October 1967. His "slices of Americana" would take him more that half a million miles for both that program and for Who's Who (1977) and result in a number of books, including his autobiography, A Life on the Road. Kuralt also hosted CBS News Sunday Morning (also known as simply Sunday Morning), Morning (1979-1987), The American Parade (1984) and America Tonight (1990-1991), a late night news program. Although he retired in 1994, Kuralt, the winner of 13 Emmy Awards and three Peabody Awards, was heard as the narrator of the TV mini-series, The Revolutionary War, in 1995. Lightly creased and scratched at blank margins and corners, black mark at lower left corner. Minor surface creases and scratches (most not evident head on), scratch touches the "wa" in warm, light crease at nose. Name written (unknown hand) in ink on verso (light impression at lower margin). Overall, fine condition.
