Document signed: "Danny Thomas". 1p, 8½x11. Beverly Hills, California, 1954 October 29. To Cantor, Fitzgerald & Co., Inc. on behalf of St. Jude Hospital Foundation Inc. In full: "On November 1, 1954, please instruct The Chemical Corn Exchange Bank & Trust Co. to receive from themselves, for the account of Farmers & Merchants National Bank of Los Angeles, for the account of Kirk Douglas, for our account, the following: $25,000 Louisiana Power & Light 3 1/8/78 against payment of $25,062.50. Very truly yours." Danny Thomas (1912-1991) debuted onscreen in 1947 in The Unfinished Dance, beginning a brief film career in corny leads or supporting comic roles. He was much more successful on TV, starring in the long-running sitcom Make Room for Daddy (later re-named The Danny Thomas Show). He also was featured in a number of TV specials and made guest appearances on variety shows. Entering production in the 1950's, Thomas was producer for American classics The Andy Griffith Show, The Dick Van Dyke Show, Gomer Pyle and The Mod Squad. He founded the St. Jude's Research Hospital, which is dedicated to finding cures for catastrophic children's diseases. He is the father of actress Marlo Thomas. Normal mailing folds. Fine condition.
