DAVID DRIER
The California Republican thanks another House Member for voting to convert small business loans into loan guarantees.
Typed Letter signed: "David", 1 page, 7x9¼. Washington, D.C., 1987 July 7. On his Congressional letterhead to Carlos J. Moorhead, Rayburn House Office Building, Washington, D.C. In full: "I want to express to you my sincere thanks for supporting my amendment to the Commerce, State, Justice appropriations bill to convert $58 million in SBA direct loans to loan guarantees. The purpose in my offering the amendment was to better leverage private sector sources of capital so that we can provide greater assistance to minorities, veterans, and the physically impaired in a more efficient manner, and with reduced government outlays. Although the amendment failed, your support demonstrates a commitment in Congress to maximize limited government resources for the benefit of those in need. I am hopeful that we will be more successful next year. Thank you, again, for your support on this amendment. Sincerely". David Drier (b. 1952), President of a Kansas City-based real estate firm, has represented his California district in the US House of Representatives since 1981. In February 2012, Drier announced that he would not seek-re-election for a twelfth term. Fellow Republican Carlos Moorhead (1922-2011) represented another California district in the House from 1973 to 1997. Normal mailing fold. Fine condition.
