Memorandum of Agreement between Keaton as artist and Francis Ford Coppola Productions, Inc., confirming her role as Kay in the movie, Godfather - Part II. Keaton is to be paid $6,250 per week, with an additional $25,000 in deferred compensation if the picture's gross receipts reach $25 million. (They did.) A provision on star billing assures Keaton that her name will receive equal prominence to Al Pacino's in all credits and promotions. Also signed: "Norman H. Garey" as Secretary of Coppola Productions. Keaton gained fame in a series of Woody Allen comedies, winning an Oscar as Best Actress in his more ambitious work, Annie Hall (1977). She has been nominated for the coveted Best Actress Oscar three more times, for Reds (1981), Marvin's Room (1996) and Something's Gotta Give (2003). Keaton also played the wife of mobster Michael Corleone in all three Godfather films (1972-1977). She also directs, her first full-length film in that role being Unstrung Heroes (1995). A sure indication of Keaton's rise to star status is that sixteen years after this agreement was signed, she would commit to Godfather III at a weekly rate of $125,000, twenty times as much!
