Carbon Partly contract signed "Eddie Bracken" in ink three times as Performer and initialed "EB" four times. Also signed twice and initialed three times by a representative of NTA Productions, Inc. 6 pages, 8½x11, separate sheets, bound with staples. May 2, 1960. Two-page contract (front and verso), two single-sided pages of "Additional Terms and Provisions" and a two-page "Schedule A", also single-sided sheets. 8¼x1 rider stapled to page 4. Bracken contracts with NTA Productions, Inc. to play "Archy" in Archy and Mehitable, a presentation on the CBS anthology Play of the Week. Bracken was to be paid $650 and 10% of the profits of the program, which was to be aired on May 16, 1960. He was to receive "First Star Billing" for the part, which would require rehearsals of "Up to 100 hours over 16 days, as required by Producer." Rehearsals were scheduled to begin on the date of this contract. Archy and Mehitabel, a comedy co-written by Mel Brooks and Joe Darion, co-starred Tammy Grimes as Mehitable. A child performer in vaudeville, Bracken (1920-2002, born in Astoria, Queens) moved on to Broadway and then movies, typecast in comic roles as a bewildered bungler. His film career spanned more than half a century (1938-1994). His peak year was 1944, when he starred in Hail the Conquering Hero and The Miracle of Morgan's Creek. Lightly toned and creased. Carbon copy marks. Rider on page 4 is torn in half and discolored by tape. Staple holes in upper left corner. Otherwise in fine condition.
