British composer Edmund Rubbra (1901-1986) created instrumental and vocal music for solo, chamber music, choruses and orchestras. His eleven symphonies are among his most important works. During World War II, Rubbra created the Army Classical Music Group, traveling widely to entertain troops. At the request of the BBC, he composed Ode to the Queen in celebration of Elizabeth II's coronation. Pencil note (unknown hand) below photograph.
