FERLIN HUSKY
Autograph note signed with his real name and also with his two aliases (Terry Preston and Simon Crum), to TV/Radio host George Sanders
Autograph Note signed: "George/it's wonderful/to know people/like you/Best of Luck/Terry Preston/Simon/Crum/Ferlin/Husky", 7x9¼ B/w newspaper photo affixed in lower left corner. Country music singer Ferlin Husky (1925-2011) had a big crossover hit, "Gone," in 1957, and his biggest hit ever, "On the Wings of a Dove" in 1960. In the 1950s, Husky also used the name Terry Preston while working as a DJ, and later introduced a third name, Simon Crum, used mostly for humorous and novelty songs. ("Country Music is Here to Stay", released by Simon Crum, reached #2 on the country charts). Huskey was under contract with Capitol Records through 1972, scoring a dozen more country hits. Thereafter he recorded for ABC, selling fewer records but remaining very popular in live venues, including the Grand Ole Opry. He entered the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2010. Husky, who had participated in the D-Day invasion with the Merchant Marine in World War II, had been plagued with heart problems for years, and died on March 17, 2011. George R. Sanders, originally a disc jockey, became a prominent radio/TV interview host, first in Los Angeles and later in Portland. Left edge frayed from previous binding. Edges toned. Otherwise, fine condition.
