Black and white 5½x8¼ bust view of the World War I correspondent
Photograph signed: "Floyd Gibbons", B/w 5½x8¼. Floyd
Gibbons (1887-1939) was a war correspondent and radio commentator. He earned

much-quoted account of U.S. Marines in combat at Belleau Wood. In that battle
Gibbons was wounded several times and lost his eye. He wrote a biography
of "the Red Baron" von Richthofen (1927) and a novel of future war The
Red Napoleon (1936), both of which remain in print. 1-inch tear at left
edge. Lightly creased. Lightly worn at edges. Otherwise, fine condition.
