ADLAI E. STEVENSON. TLS: "Adlai E. Stevenson", 1p, 7¼x10½. Chicago, 1953 November 21. To vaudevillian Ken Murray, Hollywood. In part: "I have your very thoughtful and gracious letter and am distressed that I shall not be able to accept your invitation to appear on your television series 'Where Were You'. I have received a great many invitations to appear on television and radio programs for which I am very grateful. Unhappily, however, my schedule during the next few months is so hopelessly crowded and my commitments already so burdensome that circumstances have compelled me to forego making any radio or television appearances...." The Ken Murray Show was televised on CBS from 1950-1952 and in 1953. KEN MURRAY's show, Where Were You, was never nationally televised. Illinois Governor ADLAI E. STEVENSON (1949-1953) was the grandson and namesake of President Cleveland's second Vice President. He was the unsuccessful Democratic nominee for President in 1952 and 1956, losing twice to Eisenhower in landslides. Stevenson served as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations from 1961 until his sudden death in London in 1965. Lightly creased. Fine condition.
