Autograph Note signed: "for George/Many thanks/Gwen Verdon", 7¾x5. On verso is the handwritten note of an unidentified signer: "To George"/Thanks for the 'Plugs'/& lots of luck to you too/Marilyn Ross. Stage, screen and television actress GWEN VIRDON (1925-2000) made her debut on Broadway in Cole Porter's Can-Can, winning the 1953 Theatre World Award and the 1954 Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical. She also won Tony Awards for Best Actress (Musical) for Damn Yankees (1956), New Girl in Town (1958) and Redhead (1959), and was nominated for Tonys in the same category for Sweet Charity (1976) and Chicago (1976). Sweet Charity, like many of her earlier Broadway triumphs, was choreographed by her longtime husband, Bob Fosse. The couple, who married in 1960, separated in 1971, but remained married until his death in 1987. Verdon's films include David and Bathsheba (1951), Dreamboat (1952), The Cotton Club (1984), Cocoon (1985 and its 1988 sequel) and Marvin's Room (1996), and the versatile performer made guest appearances on a long list of TV variety shows and series. Canadian writer W. E. DANIEL "DAN" ROSS (1912-1995) was listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the fastest, and also as the most prolific, author. He wrote 358 novels, 12 plays, and over 600 short stories. Sometimes writing under his own name, Ross more often employed pen names, and especially the name of his wife and editorial assistant, Marilyn Ross. It was as Marilyn Ross that Dan wrote his most successful series: 33 Gothic romances spun off from the TV series Dark Shadows. George R. Sanders, originally a disc jockey, became a prominent radio/TV interview host, first in Los Angeles and later in Portland. Irregular left edge. Fine condition.
