HAROLD J. STONE. Typed DS: "Harold J Stone" as Player, 1p, 8½x6¼. No place, 1971 February 12. Headed: "Employment of Day Player". Stone is employed to appear as "Jimson" in a production titled Skin Game. Stone has also written "Calif." as his Legal Resident State, "Yes" to being a Citizen of U.S., "No" to being married and his date of birth: "3-31-13". Also signed by the Casting Director for Cherokee Productions. Photocopied rider stapled to lower left margin. Stone's name and character do not appear in the credited cast of The Skin Game, a 1971 Western comedy that starred James Garner, Louis Gossett, Jr. and Susan Clark. The film was originally intended to launch a TV series, but efforts to do so never got farther than the 1974 pilot film, Sidekicks. In 1971, the year he signed this document, Stone appeared in one feature film, The Seven Minutes (as Judge Upshaw), and guest starred on three TV series: The Bold Ones: The New Doctors (as Harry Miller), Hogan's Heroes (as General Strommberger) and Mission: Impossible (as John Lawton). Prolific stage, radio, screen and television actor Harold J. Stone (1913-2005), born Harold Jacob Hochstein, appeared in over 30 films from 1946 (The Blue Dahlia) to 1980 (Hardly Working), including The Harder They Fall (1956), The Wrong Man (1956), Spartacus (1960), The Chapman Report (1962), The Greatest Story Ever Told (1965), The St. Valentine's Day Massacre (1967, as Frank Nitti) and The Big Mouth (1967, directed by his friend, Jerry Lewis). Even more prolific on the small screen, Stone was best known for his roles in police dramas, including 77 Sunset Strip, Naked City, The Untouchables, Mannix, Mission: Impossible, The Rockford Files and Kojak. He was a regular on several TV series, including The Hartmans (1949), The Goldbergs (1952), The Walter Winchell File (1957-1958), The Grand Jury (1959), My World and Welcome to It (1969-1970) and Bridget Loves Bernie (1972), and appeared as a guest star over 150 times on series from The Man Behind the Badge (1954) to Highway to Heaven (1986). The third generation actor was the son of Yiddish actor Jacob Hochstein, with whom Stone made his stage debut at the age of six. Lightly creased. 2 file holes at upper blank margin. Fine condition.
