Autograph Sentiments signed: "My best wishes to you/Sincerely yours/Henry Miller/Nov. 24th 1920" 5¼x3 card affixed to 6¼x4¼ card, and on verso: "Magnolia, Mass/August 22, 1920/Very sincerely yours/Wm. R. Thayer" 4x4 card affixed to 6¼x4¼ card. Moving to New York, he acted in the companies of Augustin Daly, the Lyceum Theatre, and Charles and Daniel Frohman. While performing in Odette, he met and married actress Bijou Heron in 1883. Miller's national reputation grew when he toured the US with Margaret Anglin in William Vaughn Moody's The Great Divide. From 1908, Miller devoted himself to management, promoting the careers of Alla Nazimova, Walter Hampden and Ruth Chatterton, among others. He opened his own Henry Miller Theatre in New York. The Miller's three children included Gilbert Heron Miller, who became an important theatrical manager. WILLIAM ROSCOE THAYER (1859-1923), a Harvard classmate of Theodore Roosevelt (1881), edited Harvard Graduates Magazine from 1892-1915. He represented both Harvard and the American Historical Association at major international conferences in Italy (1903, 1906). His scholarly works were wide ranging indeed: Italian history, English and American literature, and American politics. His last two books were biographies of George Washington and of his friend Theodore Roosevelt. Thayer was President of the American Historical Association (1918-1919). Adhesive residue at face and verso (not affecting signatures). Cards lightly toned. Right edge of backing frayed from binding. Minor notches at left edge of backing. Otherwise, fine condition.
