Cartoon signed: "Good wishes/Ian Gammidge", 3x3¾. The one-frame
cartoon shows a British army sergeant saying to another soldier, "You been
fighting, Private Higgins?" British cartoonist Ian Gammidge drew his own joke
and story cartoon strips for several British publications, but he was even more
successful as a scriptwriter for other cartoon artists. He worked for the
Daily and Sunday Mirror for over 30 years, and was associated with such
strips as "the Flutters" and "Ruggles." Ian Gammidge's older brother,
Henry, drew the James Bond comic for a rival newspaper. Gammidge was a combat
veteran of World War II, seeing action from France to North Africa. Fine
condition.
