Book inscribed and signed: "For George Sanders:/Whom I non-plussed/by no longer being/naked in the button hole./Fraternally/Irving Stone/Oct 1965" on first blank flyleaf, 680p, 6¼x9¼, hardcover. His book, Those Who Love: A Biographical Novel of Abigail and John Adams, Doubleday & Company, Garden City, New York: 1965. One in a series of Irving Stone's (1903-1989) fictionalized portraits of American First Families. Stone also chronicled the lives and loves of Andrew and Rachel Robards Jackson (The President's Lady, 1951) and Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln (Love is Eternal, 1954) as well as other historical figures, including Vincent van Gogh (Lust for Life, 1934) and Michelangelo (The Agony and the Ecstasy, 1961). George R. Sanders, originally a disc jockey, became a prominent radio/TV interview host, first in Los Angeles and later in Portland. In original dust jacket, which is torn at upper and lower blank edges, nicked at lower blank edge. Edges and corners of dust jacket worn, with the printing slightly faded. Actual cover lightly worn on corners. Pages lightly toned and creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
