JOHN TYNDALL. ALS: "John Tyndall", 1p, 4½x7. No place,
1875 November 5. In part: "I should be a happy man were it in my power
to examine the papers to which you refer...I am at this moment in the midst of a
most entangled investigation which demands every hour of thought that I can give
to scientific work." Irish physicist John Tyndall (1820-1893) answered the
age-old question of youngsters by showing that the sky is blue because of fine
particles in the atmosphere. He studied the diffusion of light by large
molecules and dust which is now known as the Tyndall Effect. Light glue
stains at margin on verso lightly show through touching some text.
