Signed outdoor photo in floral dress
Photograph signed: "Regards-/June Travis". B/w, 4½x6½ overall,
image 8x10 (one surface). June Travis (1914-2008), the daughter of a
White Sox executive, was spot at a game by a representative of Paramount and
offered a movie contract. Her first film, Stranded, appeared in 1935. For
the next few years, Travis was seen often in major supporting roles. For the
James Cagney film Ceiling Zero (1936), she took flying, navigating and
parachute lessons from Amelia Earhart. That same year, she played secretary
Della Street to Ricardo Cortez's Perry Mason in The Case of the Black
Cat. Retiring from the screen at the end of the decade, she returned in the
Bette Davis film The Star (1952). Signature light but legible. Fine
condition.
