Workhorse pitcher Jackson (1931-1990) was a major league player from 1955 to 1968, mostly with the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs. Jackson had 12 seasons of double-digit wins, five of those with 15 or more wins (1957, 1960, 1962, 1964 and 1966) and one with a National-League leading 24 wins in 1964, and he placed in the NL Top 10 for wins seven times (1957, 1958, 1960-1962, 1964 and 1966).Unfortunately, he had as many double-digit loss seasons as double-digit win seasons, though this could be chalked up to the mediocre teams that he played on. He was also a four-time All-Star (1957, 1958, 1960 and 1963) and shared the lead for shutouts in the NL in 1966, as well as placing in the NL Top 10 for strikeouts thrice (1958-1960) and shutouts (1957 and 1959-1967). After retiring from baseball, he was a sportswriter, insurance agent and lobbyist for paper manufacturers, as well as serving a four-term member of the Idaho house of representatives and running an unsuccessful campaign for the Republican gubernatorial candidacy in 1978. Lightly toned and scuffed . Signature is lightly smeared in places but legible. Corners are lightly rounded, worn and creased. Light chipping along right and left edges. Otherwise in fine condition.
