Typed Letter Signed: "Lee Remick", 1p, 5¾x7¾. Los Angeles, California, 1987 June 5. On her personal imprinted stationery to Eleanor Roosevelt biographer, Mrs. Stella Hershan, New York. In full: "Thank you so much for your very kind letter and your good thoughts about my Eleanor Roosevelt piece, and I would like to thank you especially for sending me your book. I will read it with great pleasure, and I deeply appreciate your parting with it." With original typed, stamped mailing envelope. Remick is likely referring to her starring role in the 1986 made-for-TV movie, Eleanor: In Her Own Words. In 1987, the year of this letter, Remick was seen on the big screen in The Vision, and she starred in the TV miniseries, Nutcracker: Money, Madness & Murder. Previously a professional dancer, actress Lee Remick (1935-1991) made her film debut as a sexy drum majorette in A Face In the Crowd (1957). She matured into an actress of great skill, earning a nomination for the Best Actress Academy Award for The Days of Wine and Roses (1962). Remick, who was a popular TV guest and miniseries star, also received a Tony Award nomination for her Broadway performance in Wait Until Dark (1966). Her last public appearance was on April 29, 1991, when she received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Remick, who was ill from the ravages of cancer died just over two months later (on July 2).
