Album sleeved signed: "Lonnie Donegan", in blue ink, 7¼x7¼. Record sleeve for Donegan's 45 single "The Party's Over", with "Over the Rainbow" on the B Side. Record included. Musician Lonnie Donegan (1931-2002) is often called the "King of Skiffle" for his help in bringing about the popularity of the folk-sounding, post war-jazz genre to the UK audience, influencing artists like John lennon, Mark Knopfler, Al Stewart, Jack White and Mick Jagger. The son of a Scottish violinist, Donegan's interest in music was more modern, buying a guitar at age 14 and playing in small jazz clubs. He formed his first group, the Tony Donegan Jazzband, in 1952 but wouldn't find success until after playing in Ken Colyer's Jazzmen. Initially playing guitar and banjo during intervals in what was called "skiffle breaks", Donegan's entire career later became based upon the genre, releasing 16 albums during his life and topping the UK Top 30 hits over twenty times. He also became the first UK male to land two US Top 10 hits. Although his popularity waned from time to time, Donegan is remarked as one of the most prominent artists in UK music history. Toned.
