MAX LANIER
Signed 3x5 color illustration, shown in Cardinals uniform
Illustration signed: "Max Lanier". Color, 3x5 heavy card. Although he became a lefthander
only because he broke his right arm twice as a child, Max Lanier (1915-2007) was the
top-winning southpaw for three consecutive Cardinal pennant winners, 1942-1944. An
All-Star in 1943 and 1944, he had the league's lowest earned run average (1.90!) in 1943.
He was 6-0 in 1946, then jumped to Mexican League, causing his suspension from organized
baseball. Lanier was reinstated in 1949 and won 11 games for the Cardinals in both 1950 and
1951. His son, Hal, became a major league player, coach and manager. Fine condition.
