"AMERICA'S FUNNIEST DUO" SIGNS A WARNER BROS. RECORDS PUBLICITY PHOTOGRAPH

PINKARD & BOWDEN
Photograph signed: "Sandy/Pinkard" and "Richard/Bowden". B/w, 8x10 overall, image 7x8¼ (one surface). Inscribed in unknown hand: "To Pedro,/Love & Kisses". Warner Bros. Records publicity photograph by Dean Dixon. Name imprinted at lower margin. Introduced in 1982, the songwriting duo of SANDY PINKARD and RICHARD BOWDEN discovered they had a knack for writing "stupid songs", and they would go on to form a stage and recording act that would be billed as "America's Funniest Duo". First writing parodies of country songs, they would later pen satires and X-rated material that was featured in their stage show and in several albums, including three early releases for Warner Bros. Bowden, who had a background as a musician and songwriter, had grown up with Don Henley, with whom he would form a band, Shiloh. Bowden would go on to join Linda Ronstadt's back up band, while Henley teamed up with Glenn Frey to form the Eagles. Bowden, a talented studio musician who backed such performers as Johnny Rivers and Dan Fogelberg, later formed anouther group, Blue Steel, which opened for the Eagles' on their "Long Run" tour in 1980. Pinkard, who had an early career as a musician, was best known as a songwriter. He penned several hits, including "You're The Reason God Made Oklahoma", "Coca Cola Cowboy", "Beers to You" and "I Can Tell By the Way You Dance", for other performers before meeting Bowden. Songs for which Pinkard & Bowden are known include "Mama, She's Lazy", "Help Me Make It Through the Yard", "Elvis Was a Narc", "Libyan on a Jet Plane", "Trailer Park Woman", "Queen Berets" and "Wind Beneath My Sheets". Slightly creased at blank margins and corners. Minor surface creases (not evident head-on). Fine condition.
