Typed caption at lower margin: "'Mom, if I decide to marry my job when I grow up, can I still have a reception with rice and cake and flowers and stuff?'" Glasbergen has written: "BG-15" on verso, which bears his stamped name and address. In 1982, cartoonist Randy Glasbergen took over the popular comic strip, "The Better Half", originally created by Bob Barnes in 1956. For the first ten years on the strip, Glasbergen signed it with a pseudonym, "Jay Harris", Harris being his wife's maiden name. Since 1993, the cartoonist has signed the strip as Randy Glasbergen. Glasbergen, who has had over 25,000 of his cartoons featured in magazines, newspapers and books as well as on greeting cards and calendars, is also known for his daily online feature, "Today's Cartoon by Randy Glasbergen". A full-time freelance cartoonist since 1976, Glasbergen began his career at the age of 15. He continues to draw his cartoons in black "Flair" pen on typing paper (as in this example) although he later turned to computer technology for "colorizing" his work. Lightly creased.
