ROBERT PEAK. Printed Image signed: "R. Peak" in pencil. Color, 8½x11. Numbered: "184/1000". Depicts his painting, Torch of Peace. Limited Edition art print created for the World Federation of United Nations Associations to honor the 45th Anniversary of the United Nations. The stamp, not affixed, was issued on 1990 June 26. Mounting remnants on verso (no show through). Fine condition. Accompanied by Partly Printed DS: "Annabelle Wiener" for the WFUNA, 1p, 8x11. Headed: "Limited Edition Art Print Documentation Certificate", 1p, 8x11. Sheet provides background on the stamp issue and the artist, who is often referred to as "the father of the contemporary movie poster". Fine condition. Artist/illustrator Robert Peak, created his first movie poster for West Side Story in 1961, and he has gone on to create posters for over 100 others films as well. Also a prolific book and magazine illustrator, Peak has designed 45 covers for "Time" magazine. Among his stamp issues were a history of the Olympics series that was the largest post office commission ever given to a single artist. Two items.
