Typed letter signed: "R.T.M. Scott" in blue ink. 1 page, 8½x11. Written on personal letterhead. May 4, 1933. New York City, New York. Addressed to a Mr. Frank H. Bohrer, in full: "I have your letter of April 26th asking me for my autograph and expressing your pleasure in reading two of my books entitled "A Daughter of Two Worlds" and "The Root of Evil." I am certainly glad that these books gave you pleasure but it is my duty to point out that you must have mixed me up with some other writer or writers as the books named were not written by me. With very good wishes and trusting that your health may improve, I am, Yours sincerely". R.T.M. Scott (1882-1966) is a Canadian writer of thriller and spy novels. Originally serving in the Royal Canadian Military, Scott traveled to India, Malaysia and Ceylon before WWI, during which he served as a Captain with the Canadian Expeditionary Force in Belgium. After the war, Scott moved to New York where he began his literary career, first publishing Secret Service Smith (1923) and going on to write many more pieces including The Black Magaician (1925), Aurelius Smith - Detective (1927) and The Agony Column Murders (1946). Scott also wrote books on paranormal phenomena such as Is Roosevelt Psychic? (1938), Unseen Forces Slaughter Mankind (1938), and Psychic Terms You Ought to Know (1939). Normal mailing folds. Toned.
