Biography
Canadian actor Alexander Knox (1907-1995) was best known for his portrayal of American President Woodrow Wilson in Darryl F. Zanuck's 1944 biopic. Knox won the 1944 Best Actor Golden Globe Award for his performance and was nominated for the same Oscar category. Knox made his American debut in 1941 in The Sea Wolf and gave an outstanding performance in This Above All (1942) before making Wilson. Knox appeared in a number of other feature films, including The Longest Day (1962), You Only Live Twice (1967) and Gorky Park (1983), as well as made-for-television films including Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy (1979) and Helen Keller: The Miracle Continues (1984).
