Biography
Beatrice Straight (1914-2001) was a Broadway actress from 1935, winning a Tony for The Crucible (1953). She earned an Oscar as Best Supporting Actress for Network (1976). Another successful film role was that of an overconfident investigator of the paranormal in Poltergeist (1982). While working on the New York stage, she appeared in the Manhattan-based soap opera Love of Life. She had roles in the TV series Beacon Hill (1975), Wonder Woman (1976) and King's Crossing (1982), and played Rose Kennedy in a 1985 television miniseries.
