Born: February 29, 1916 in Winchester, Tennessee
Died: February 24, 1994 in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, California
Biography
DINAH SHORE (1917-1994), a popular solo songstress, produced such 1940s hits as "Buttons and Bows", "Blues in the Night", "You'd Be So Nice To Come Home To" and "I'll Walk Alone". She moved on to a successful TV career with a musical show, The Dinah Shore Chevy Show (1956-1962), and a series of talk shows (1970-1980). It has been said that the above quoted trademark opening of her Chevy Show (which continued, "America's the greatest land of all") practically defined the 1950s. She was married to actor George Montgomery from 1954-1963. They remained friends after their divorce, with Montgomery, by then a successful furniture designer, appearing often on her talk shows.
