Biography
Don Porter (1912-1997) appeared in occasional feature films from the early 1940s, and made a US Army training film, Resisting Enemy Interrogation (1944). He played incumbent Senator Tucker Jarmon, upset by Robert Redford in The Candidate (1972). He starred in the hit play Any Wednesday (1964). Porter really came into his own on television, however. He played Ann Sothern's boss on Private Secretary, and Sally Fields' widowed father on Gidget, and his numerous guest spots included multiple appearances on The Bionic Woman and Dallas.
