Douglas Vernon DeCinces, born on August 29, 1950, in Burbank, California, is a former professional baseball third baseman who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1973 to 1987. DeCinces is most notably associated with the Baltimore Orioles and the California Angels.
DeCinces made his MLB debut with the Baltimore Orioles in 1973, where he faced the challenging task of succeeding Hall of Famer Brooks Robinson at third base. Over time, he established himself as a reliable contributor to the team, both offensively and defensively. DeCinces played with the Orioles until 1981, compiling a significant portion of his career statistics and achievements with the team. In 1982, DeCinces was traded to the California Angels, where he experienced a career resurgence. One of his most memorable achievements came during the 1982 season when he hit 30 home runs and recorded 97 RBIs, helping lead the Angels to the American League West division title. His performance that year earned him a Silver Slugger Award and placed him third in the American League Most Valuable Player voting.
