Biography
Comedian "Lonesome George" GOBEL (1919-1991) began his career as a country singer on the radio before WWII but turned to comedy after returning from service. He hosted The George Gobel Show (1954 -1960)and was a frequent guest star on TV variety shows such as The Bing Crosby Show and Johnny Carson's The Tonight Show . Gobel played the Mayor in the sitcom Harper Valley (1981-1982).
