Biography
Maximilian Schell (1930-2014) won the 1961 Academy Award for Best Actor for his role as defense attorney Hans Rolfe in Judgment at Nuremberg, and he was nominated for Oscars for Best Actor for The Man in the Glass Booth (1975) and Julia (1977). In 1970, Schell won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film as Producer-Director-Screenwriter of Erste Liebe/First Love. In 1961, while garnering Oscar honors, Schell also played Hamlet in a TV production of Shakespeare's play.
