Biography
Morgan Conway (1903-1981), a founding member of the Screen Actors Guild, did freelance work in many films of the late 1930s, including Charlie Chan in Reno (1939). RKO cast him as the title character in Dick Tracy and one sequel (1945-1946). Although these films drew well, and many critics considered him the best Dick Tracy, the theaters petitioned for the return of Ralph Byrd, who had played the role earlier. Conway's contract with RKO was not renewed in 1947.
