Biography
German scientist Rudolf Mössbauer (1929-2011), of the Technical Institute in Munich and the California Institute of Technology, studied the absorption of gamma rays in matter. His study of nuclear resonance absorption led to the discovery of Recoilless Nuclear Resonance Absorption and its theoretical interpretation. He was awarded the 1961 Nobel Prize in Physics.
