STEVE REEVES
Steve Reeves signs an index card to a fan in blue ink.
Inscribed signature: "To Jim/from/Steve Reeves", 5x3 index card. Captioned at upper margin: "STEVE REEVES (1926- ) U.S. actor, formerly 'Mr. World' and 'Mr. Universe'; found stardom since 1953 in Italian muscle-man spectacles." Bodybuilder/actor Steve Reeves (1926-2000) won the Mr. America title in 1947, was Mr. World in 1948 and captured the top honors at the Mr. Universe contest in 1950. Reeves displayed his physique on a number of early television shows, including Topper (1951), The Burns and Allen Show (1952) and The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriett (1953), before having his first speaking part in Edward Wood, Jr.'s 1954 film, Jail Bait. The actor then went to Europe, where he found international fame as "Hercules" in two Joseph E. Levine films (1957, 1959) and starred in several period epics (some of which he produced and scripted), including The Thief of Baghdad (1960), The Last Days of Pompeii (1960) and Duel of the Titans (1963). Fine condition.
