Photograph signed: "Best Wishes/Stratford Johns". B/w, 8x10. South African-born British actor Stratford Johns (1925-2002), shown here as Daddy Warbucks in the first West End production of Annie (1978), is best remembered as Detective Inspector Charles Barlow in the BBC TV series Z-Cars (1962-1965). He took his Barlow character into four spin-offs through 1975. Johns was voted BBC TV Personality of the Year in 1973. His feature films include The Lady Killers (1955), Cromwell (1970) and The Fool (1990). He wrote a children's book, Gumphlumph, and read it on TV's Jackanory. Large tear on left margin. Tape on verso. Corners and edges slightly worn. Signature in poor contrast, but legible. Otherwise, fine condition.
