Movie still from Neither the Sea Nor the Sand (1974). Property of National Screen Service Corporation. British actress Hampshire, born in 1938, won three Emmy Awards for her roles in Fleur Forsythe in The Forsythe Saga(1970), Sarah Churchill in The First Churchills(1971) and Becky Sharp in Vanity Fair(1973). An actor since childhood, Hampshire's first movie appearance was in 1947's The Woman in the Hall, but she didn't have her first taste of stardom until a bit role in the 1958 London stage production of Expresso Bongo. Walt Disney picked Hampshire up for a few films, including The Three Lives of Thomasina (1963) and The Fighting Prince of Donegal (1966). To avoid being typecast as a children's actor, she appeared either partly or fully nude in Night Must Fall (1964) and Paris in the Month of August (1966). Hampshire is also a children's author and, in 1982, published her autobiography Susan's Story, which revealed her lifelong fight with dyslexia. In all, she's had acting credits in almost 60 movies and TV shows, with recurring roles in The Andromeda Breakthrough (1962), Katy (1962), The Pallisers (1974), The Grand (1997-1998) and Monarch of the Glen (2000-2005). Lightly toned, creased and bowed. Lightly creased, worn and rounded corners. Light impressions and scratches on image (not visible head-on). Otherwise, fine condition.
