THE BEACH BOYS: BRIAN WILSON. Photograph signed: "Brian/Wilson".
Color, 10x8. Brian Douglas Wilson (born in 1942), considered one of the most influential
and innovative songwriters and producers ever, formed the Beach Boys with younger
brothers Dennis and Carl Wilson, cousin Mike Love and college friend, Al Jardine. Their first
song, "Surfin'", which captured the California scene, was released to popular reviews, and a
string of hits, most written by Brian and Love, followed, including "California Girls", "Surfin'
USA", "Surfer Girl", "Little Deuce Coupe", "Don't Worry Baby", "Wouldn't It Be Nice", "God
Only Knows", "I Get Around", "Help Me, Rhonda" and "Good Vibrations". At the height of his
fame, Wilson appeared in several films, including Beach Party (1963), Beach Blanket Bingo
(1965) and How to Stuff a Wild Bikini (1965), as well as on The Beach Boys Special on
television in 1976. After a nervous breakdown, Wilson excluded himself from touring to stay
home to write, arrange and produce songs, creating two of his greatest albums, Beach Boys
Today! and Summer Days (And Summer Nights)! He then released Pet Sounds, which
became a milestone in music and greatly influenced a number of other artists over the next
four decades. After turning his creative genius to producing Smile, an album that he did not
release at that time, Wilson went into seclusion, and it would be eight years before he would
return to the limelight. Eleven years after he left the Beach Boys, he released his first solo
album, Brian Wilson, but the deaths of his two brothers (Dennis in 1983 and Carl in 1998)
pushed him to the edge of another breakdown. He later found a new band, returned to the
touring circuit and released several new albums, including Smile. Brian, who was inducted into
the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988 and the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2000, is the
father of singers Carnie and Wendy Wilson. In addition to his own recordings, he lent his
vocal talents as a backup singer on Neil Diamond's recording, "Delirious Love". Minor surface
creases (most not evident head on). Fine condition.
