BUCK SHOWALTER managed the Yankees for four seasons, 1992-1995. By Yankees standards, these were not great seasons. In his first year they finished under .500(76-86), improved dramatically to 88-74 in 1993, were leading the Eastern Division at 70-43 when the 1994 season and World Series were cancelled due to the players' strike, and finished in second place (79-65) in season which began late due awaiting settlement. Nevertheless, this team was on the upswing from 3 uncharacteristically bad seasons before Showalter's arrival, and the playoff appearance in 1995 as the AL's first "wild card" entry foreshadowed much better seasons to come. With Joe Torre at the helm, the Yankees won five straight World Championships (1996-2000) and made the playoffs every year of his tenure, which ended after the 2007 season. Several signers here, including longtime center fielder BERNIE WILLIAMS, were still around to claim World Series rings. Minor wear at corners. Fine condition.
